Human Paladin Guide

Human Paladin is one of the two Secondary Classess available to a Human Warrior in Lineage 2 Revolution. The other Secondary Class available is the Human Warlord. These two Secondary Classes are available after you have reached level 31 (link to Human Warrior guide). The Human Paladin wields a Sword & Shield, whilst a Human Warlord wields Dual Swords or a Spear. This guide focuses on the skill build and skills overview of a Human Paladin (tank aka Human Knight).

Active Skills

Slam

Human Paladin Guide - Slam

The paladin swings the weapon in a large arc that damages, knocks down and provokes enemies. Slam draws aggro of targets to yourself. It also causes a two second crowd control knockdown. Both these attributes greatly increase the survivability of a party in group content.

Vengence

Human Paladin Guide - Vengeance

The paladin lets out a shout that attacks and provokes nearby enemies to attack you. Enemies who are hit become uncontrollable and can’t use skills for 8 seconds. No, you did not read wrongly. It is actually 8 whole seconds! If you have ever PVPed against a Paladin in the Arena, this is the reason why you noticed your character being in an ‘uncontrollable’ state.

Assuming you and the Paladin are of the same Combat Power (CP), you will find a high tendence of yourself losing to a Paladin. This is also one of the reasons why you would see a lower CP Paladin with higher arena rankings than higher-rated CP players of other classes.

Active Buff Skills

‘Active Buff Skills’ are essentially skills that you would have to toggle on in order to benefit from the buff.

Majesty

Human Paladin Guide - Majesty

Majesty temporarily increases DEF and reflects a portion of the damage received by you. Casting this self-buff skill will increase your longevity when tanking monsters. The damage reflected also increases your overall DPS to the monsters too, resulting in faster kill times.

Passive Skills

Parry Master

This passive increases the shield defense success rate, shield defense and defense power. It greatly increases your survivability by granting additional defense and a chance to decrease damage taken when receiving damage. Since you’ll be provoking enemies, it is wise to level this passive to boost your tankiness.

Ultimate Hate

Increases damage to monsters, reducing damage received from monster and provoke the enemies to attack you. Grants you a percentage boost on damage dealt to monsters and mitigation of damage received by you, whilst providing you with the chance to provoke them to attack you. This probably a critical skill to be maxed out, especially if you are intending to do more solo content (the damage boosts significantly aids with more damage output).

Passive Buff Skill (Automatic)

Defense Aura

Automatically increases the DEF to you, as well as your party members in the vicinity. This is a passive buff that does not require any mana consumption or activation. The skill increases the survivability of you and your allies – critical in clearing of Elite Dungeons and Clan dungeons. This skill point will prove valuable if your party composition is such that there are a good number of races or classes that lack good base health or DEF. It not only makes the party’s healer durable, it also helps the healer conserve mana over time, due to damage mitigation.

Skill Build Recommendations and Guide

After you are able to access your Secondary Class, you will likely come to realize that you do not have sufficient skill points to level up all, or even most of your skills. As such, deploying the optimal skill build is especially important for Free-to-Play players.

You would want to get a single skill point in each of your Active abilities and Passive abilities first, prioritizing the first skill points in the Actives. This enables you to increase your damage output in the earlier phase. You should then subsequently pursue points in your Passive.

The optimal skill build for Passive Skills will also depend on whether you are a more solo-oriented player, or someone who spends most of the time in a party with your friends. If you are into more solo content, put your skill points into Parry Master before Ultimate Hate. If you find yourself doing plenty of party content (e.g. Elite Dungeons), it will be best if you invest some skill points into Defense Aura to bolster the survivability of the group.

Moving on to Active Skills, we would suggest investing points into the Active Buff skill Majesty first. This grants you more survivability whilst training.

How Good is Human Paladin in Lineage 2 Revolution?

Humans are blessed with a balance stat distribution – versatile enough to be both dealing damage and tanking damage competently. You will find little to no trouble completing the Storyline due to a Human Paladin’s survivability. On top of that, you will prove to be a great party player, which is highly sought after for most clans. In conclusion, a Human Paladin is a great class if you enjoy group content rather than mindlessly dishing out big numbers in solo content.
