Dark Elf Spellhowler Guide: Skill Build

In Lineage 2 Revolution, once you have reached Level 31 as a Dark Elf Mystic, you can select from two Secondary Classes after completing the required class change quests. You can choose to be a Spellhowler (DPS) or the Shillien Elder (Healer). This guide will focus on playing as a Dark Elf Spellhowler in Lineage 2 Revolution – a class specializing in cursing enemy targets and dealing lasting area-of-effect damage.

Active Skills

Dark Breath

Channels dark element flames to deal damage. You can alter the direction while casting. This attack inlifcts a continuous 7-hit attack onto the targetted enemy. You have the freedom of changing the direction of attack should you wish.

Corruption

Dark Elf Spellhowler Guide: Corruption

Corrupts an area on the ground to damage enemies and decrease their Def. and Speed. This is an area of effect ability that compose of a continuous attack of 5-hits. The skill deals pretty high damage to enemies who remain within the affected area. As you can see, the affected area is pretty wide in nature. The defense debuff that it inflict also further amplifies your damage dealt to your target.

Fatal Wisdom

Dark Elf Spellhowler Guide: Fatal Wisdom

Briefly increases M. Atk. to its limit. Do note that the skill description might cause some form of confusion here. Upon toggling the buff, you do not actually attain the maximum M. Attack possible in Lineage 2 Revolution. However, you do get a substantial gain in M. Atk – an increase in quantum that is higher than what most attack buffs provide. This will allow you to substantially increase your overall damage output, expediting your leveling process. The buff last for a total of 15 seconds, and has a cooldown of 40 seconds.

Passive Skills

Fiver

Gets a chance to increase critical damage when attacking. At Level 1, this passive grants you a 10% chance to get 30% critical damage increase. This buff last for 6 seconds. This synergizes well with the fact that you have high base crit.

Wizard Light Heal

Has a chance to regenerate a little HP while attacking. You possess a 10% chance ot heal a flat value of health whilst attacking. This helps you sustain longer while training.

Death Whisper

Automatically gives you and your party members located in the same area a buff of 30% additional crit damage. This does stack with your Fiver skill, which translates into even more critical damage output.

Skill Build Recommendations and Guide

It would be wise to prioritize the leveling of your Passives abilities over Actives abilities. Before you focus on leveling the priority skills, be sure to take a single level in each skill first though. The first level of each skill usually provides decent bang for buck in terms of returns on your invested skill points.

Be sure to keep on leveling your Mage Weapon Mastery and Robe Armor Mastery as these two skills grant a significant attack boost. Subsequently, you should look to invest your skill points into Fiver and Wizard Light Heal as these boost your damage output and survivability extensively. If you happen to do a lot of party content, such as Elite Dungeons, you might want to consider leveling the party buff Death Whisper as well.

For Active Skills, you want to level up your Active Buff skill, Fatal Wisdom, since grants a very strong M. Atk. buff for the duration. Following that, you can opt to level up your other Active skills should you find yourself with excessive skill points.

How Good is Dark Elf Spellhowler in Lineage 2 Revolution?

The Dark Elf Spellhowler boasts a high overall damage output, due to the damage buff it receives from Fatal Wisdom. His damage amplification on enemy targets through the use of Corruption works well in party settings, raising the damage output of the group. The Dark Elf Spellhowler is a huge asset to any party, as he does provide the party with additional buffs to increase overall damage output.

In solo content, the Spellhowler would have no problems dishing out the required damage to foes, though you  need to be wary when fighting stronger bosses. Due to your inability to sustain massive damage, hard hitting bosses are capable of taking you out within a few hits.
